Seeds for resilient communities
Farming activities are so important in communities experiencing extreme poverty. Many crisis-affected populations are rural and rely on crops and livestock as sources of food and income to provide for their families.
Agricultural support can lead to greater food diversity and access, better nutrition outcomes and functioning markets. This kind of support helps forge a pathway out of poverty and preserves the dignity of participants.
A gift of €300 could transform communities by providing farmers with a diverse range of seeds, helping them earn an income to provide for their families and send their children to school.
This means more diverse, nutritious food to help prevent malnutrition and strengthen communities’ resilience to future climate shocks.
This gift helps support our Livelihoods programme, empowering people earn income, and provide for their families with dignity.

In Ethiopia, Concern works with local partners through the Hanaano Programme, supporting communities to build more resilient livelihoods in a region affected by drought, flooding and food insecurity.
The programme supports climate-resilient agriculture and livestock systems, helping households improve food availability, increase their income and strengthen their resilience to climate shocks, all in an effort to prevent child wasting.

With this support, they received improved varieties of seeds, a generator, fuel, water pumps, and training.
